Break out the ice skates, folks. The lake is pretty much frozen over, and the forecast calls for nothing but c-o-l-d the next few days.

Will today's runners be tomorrow's skaters?

Undoubtedly the Parks Department will post the lake for skating, discouraging visitors from testing the ice. It hasn't worked very well in the past, though, and it's been so many years since the lake completely iced over that a lot of curiosity- and thrill-seekers will undoubtedly ignore the signs. Watch for articles and broadcasts in local media warning the Seattle public to stay off the lake! Yeah, that'll work...
